Richard means that we are the makers of our own negativity. He is saying that we need to master ourselves before we can take on other challenges. We have the power to control how we think and our response to our thoughts. It is really east to let negativity win, but it takes practice and constant attention to let positivity prevail. It is important that we recognize that were in control of ourselves and our thoughts. WIth this ability we can see things in new ways and overcome personal problems within ourselves.
Your writing is so thoughtful in this post and you fully encourage the points that richard made. I also loved the way you simplified such a complex idea and made it approachable. Great job :)
ReplyDeleteKayla this relates so much to you! you always bring positivty and spirit where ever you go. I love the way that there is a deep meaning in such simple words. We should take Richard's advice and use it during volleyball season :)
ReplyDeleteReally good job with this!!
I completely agree with this post. You articulated it well. It REALLY is easy to let negativity win which is why it's so hard to stay positive all the time. Great job on this
ReplyDeleteI like how you use the definition of Richard's idea of thoughts and then made it your own. You did a great job of portraying your message and your ideologies of this concept through your eyes. I love love love the sentence "It is really east to let negativity win, but it takes practice and constant attention to let positivity prevail" Fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThis is really good insight! i agree with you, it is really difficult to remember we're in control, and to not be negative.
ReplyDeleteI wrote something similar to this for my blog post. I agree that we are in control of our own thoughts, but it is easier to let the negativity win because it is easier to think about problems than it is to ignore or solve them. This is how our mind works, the mind reminds us of big things that happen in our lives, and when we know that something is wrong, instead of trying to achieve a balance we tend to worry about it more
ReplyDeleteI agree that we control our negativity, many people don't realize that negative thoughts lead to a negative outcome. Also, I love this part of the book when Richard from Texas kind of shows Gilbert who she is, so I'm happy this was a response.
ReplyDeleteYour views are similar to mine on the concept of making our own negativity. We do need to master ourselves and know ourselves before we can take on others challenges
ReplyDeleteI like how you realize that negative thoughts are hard to get out of your mind, but with determination you can control your thoughts. It is hard for me to have constant attention on one thing. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWhen we are in control of ourselves and we don't let ourselves feel negative, it could make a life experience better. I watched a movie first period about a guy being tortured and another guy was also being tortured but he had kept his faith and g-d and a positive attitude and he was released.
