Prompt #8

Reread Richard from Texas' comment to Elizabeth Gilbert on the top of page 178 to the end of that chapter. Then, explain what he means in your own words and, just as Gilbert does, go into detail explaining a way that you can start to take control of your thoughts.

Richard means that we are the makers of our own negativity. He is saying that we need to master ourselves before we can take on other challenges. We have the power to control how we think and our response to our thoughts. It is really east to let negativity win, but it takes practice and constant attention to let positivity prevail. It is important that we recognize that were in control of ourselves and our thoughts. WIth this ability we can see things in new ways and overcome personal problems within ourselves.

  6. I wrote something similar to this for my blog post. I agree that we are in control of our own thoughts, but it is easier to let the negativity win because it is easier to think about problems than it is to ignore or solve them. This is how our mind works, the mind reminds us of big things that happen in our lives, and when we know that something is wrong, instead of trying to achieve a balance we tend to worry about it more

  7. I agree that we control our negativity, many people don't realize that negative thoughts lead to a negative outcome. Also, I love this part of the book when Richard from Texas kind of shows Gilbert who she is, so I'm happy this was a response.

  10. When we are in control of ourselves and we don't let ourselves feel negative, it could make a life experience better. I watched a movie first period about a guy being tortured and another guy was also being tortured but he had kept his faith and g-d and a positive attitude and he was released.
